U13 Gower

U13 Redcliffe Cyclones Gower Vs. Valleys District Navy

U13 Gower played a home game in R4 against Valleys.

We won the toss and elected to bowl first. A tight opening spell yielded no wickets, however first change bowler Ethan was able to come on an make the breakthrough. Valleys then batted defensively and kept wickets in tack. A number of players retried and although we were able to keep the run scoring down, wickets were hard to come by. Zac was bowling beautifully and turning the ball a mile, finally he was rewarded with our second wicket. As the overs ticked by, chances were being created that we couldn’t capitalize on. The Valleys ended up batting out the day finishing on 9/136. Balke finished with 3/11 Ethan, Zac, Cohen, Callum, Brax and Jesse each taking a wicket each.

On the morning of day two, current and former presidents Neal Smith and Darren Wheeler joined us to present baggy blues to two young lads that joined the group post-Christmas, Cohen Clark and Ethan Sullivan. A special morning for group of players and parents.

With formalities over, Brax and Hayden got the innings under way with a positive start. Hayden registering his highest score this season before attempting a reverse sweep. Brax and Cohen batted well and both retried in their 20’s. Runs were hard to come by in the middle overs as we steadily lost wickets, while edged closer to the total. With 9 wickets down, Brax and Cohen returned to the crease still in need of 9 runs to surpass the valleys total. A mix-up saw Brax runout still 3 runs short of victory. A tight contest and a tough loss for the team that we will look to draw positives from and learn from the experience.

Final scores:

Redcliffe Cyclones all out 133 def by

The Valleys 9/136
