U13 Redcliffe Cyclones Gower Vs. The Lakes Red

Following our round 2 washout, U13 Gower played the boys from North Lakes on their home deck.

We won the toss and being a few players short elected to bowl first. Zak Smith stepped up to captain the team this week and took on the responsibility of also opening the bowling, however it was Ethan who took the first wicket with some good sustained line and length bowling. Soon after, Cohen and Jayden were able to pick a couple more wickets and at drinks the Lakes were 3 down. The lakes then batted well throughout the middle overs as our boys started to tire in the heat. It proved to be a long day for the Cyclones lads in the field finishing off the day with the Lakes at 7/192 Ethan, Zak, Cohen, Jayden, Braxton and Travis all took 1 wicket each.

Day 2 and conditions were almost identical. Braxton and Travis got us off to a solid start reaching 0/45 at drinks, however following the drinks break Braxton chopped one on as he was nearing his retirement. Cohen batted well in the middle overs trying to keep the scoreboard ticking, but pressure was mounting as the overs ticked by. Zak played one of the best innings I’ve seen him play at my time at the cyclones. He batted with great maturity and stuck around to give us a sniff. Following a flurry of wickets, Travis came back in to complete his innings still requiring 92 to win off 11 overs. Once he reached 50 he unleashed with a barrage of boundaries and it got us all thinking could it be? But not today, he was the last man dismissed for 86 as we went down by 37 runs. Zak 19 and Cohen 10 were the other main contributors with the bat.

Final scores:

Redcliffe Cyclones 10/155 def by

The Lakes 7/192

U15 - Devine

High expectations going into day 2 of the match against Albany Creek Night Hawks at Filmer Park starting at 2/26. The batting got off to a good start with the batters making runs. A few quick wickets saw the game change in Albany Creeks favour. Their bowler Kooper had a phenomenal bowling effort taking 6 wickets for only 24 runs. Cooper was holding fort and was the first to retire. Charlie came into bat and steadied the ship until he eventually retired as well. Rrithesh put in the amazing innings showing how much he has improved his batting, making it right through until he retired as well. A impressive 9 from 14 from Mankaran showed some hope for the Cyclones. The retirees then came back in for a quick fire run spree with Charlie making it to 31 and Rrithesh closing out our innings. Coming from 6/61 through to 10/114 showed the U15 Devine Cyclones spirit.

With the first innings won the Night Hawks come out with a mission. Their batters went big and very fast with them scoring 3/69. The wickets being shared between Luka (2) and Riley.
