WE WON OUR FIRST GAME!!!!! Our beautiful team has bonded so well and improved dramatically every week, but a win remained elusive. This week everything came together and it was truly a team effort. Our fielders were focussed for the whole game, talked to each other non stop and saved multiple boundaries. The constant encouragement between the players is inspiring to watch. Dominic would be the player of the match. We hadn't picked a captain last year but since Dom has joined the team this year his leadership skills have seen him take on that role naturally (as you can see from the photo). This week he also just edged out Xavier for most runs and as the wicket keeper got, possibly, the catch of the season. Coach Joel and Manager Tully are so proud of all of the U10 Martin players, they show up for each other every week and totally deserve this win!!

We lost the toss and batted first today with some great top order batsman digging in and getting some good runs on the scorecard. Some sharp bowling by opposition saw a few wickets in the middle fall before another stint of resilient batting added another 25 runs.
We had our top order batsmen head back in and after facing a massive 50 balls each we had some good runs with 35 off 52 and 29 off 50. Giving us 161 runs total.
Following this we dug in to field well, with some good catches and bowling. We fell just short with a final score of 7/161 vs 7/162. Our players of the match today Josh W for his persistence with the bat at 29 off 50 and bowling 3 overs for just 12 runs and getting 3 wickets. Riley F for his digging feel and backing himself in his batting today, adding a much needed 25 runs off 19 balls!
Well done Cyclones!

U13 - Stimpson
After posting a solid total last week, we were ready for the challenge of defending it. The Hawks had bowled well in the previous innings, but they couldn’t capitalise on all their catching opportunities. Our task was clear – catches win matches!
From the outset, Stimpson U13 embodied this phrase, making an early statement by taking four wickets in just four overs! The pressure was on, and the Hawks’ new batters played more cautiously. Over the next eight overs, they added 36 runs to their total before a well-taken catch sent another Hawk back to the side-lines.
Our spinners were relentless, tightening their grip with some exceptional bowling, but the Hawks fought back with a massive six. However, the Cyclones weren’t fazed and, in the next two balls, claimed two more wickets, including an incredible diving catch from slip that had the crowd on their feet!
Despite some tight, accurate bowling the Hawks notched up another 14 runs, but a change in the attack brought a fresh energy. In the 23rd over, we struck twice – one wicket was brilliantly bowled straight, and the other came from yet another perfect catch in the field. The final Hawks batters stood at the crease and, with one of our newest players stepping up, the game was sealed – a fantastic delivery followed by another superb catch wrapped up the innings in just 24 overs, 10-81.
With time to spare, Stimpson U13 decided to bat again, giving some of our players who hadn’t bowled a chance to get to the crease. The game plan was simple: don’t do anything silly, stand your ground. We batted for 18 overs, retiring two players along the way. Our first few batters, having decided they had done their job for the day, found other ways to amuse themselves. At 2-34, we declared, winning our first match of the season by a solid 64 runs!
Our Cross My Heart Cafe players of the match went to Jazz for her brilliant job standing her ground at the crease and retiring not out, and Eli, also not out and for the incredible catch from slip!
The teamwork displayed today was exceptional. The players were encouraging, supportive, and gracious both to each other and the opposition. They fielded brilliantly, backing each other up and returning the ball to the pitch swiftly. It was a well-deserved win for a truly amazing team!

U14 Gower
It was great for the U14 Gower boys to be back at Filmer against Albany Creek. Cyclones were sent in and managed to put a defendable total of 180 on the board. Braxton retired then came back to finish the innings and made a well compiled 44. Kai 31 and Tyson 21 were also amongst the runs both notching up this highest scores. Our bowling began well but then went without a wicket for a while and Albany Creek looked comfortable. Enter the man of the moment, Connor Smith. In a 4 over spell, the young man took 5/14 and words cannot explain how happy his teammates and parent group watching on were for him. He tore the heart out Albany Creek who put up a fight for their final wicket but the damage was already done.
Well done to the boys who secured a 36 run win.

Shoutout from the behind the boundary:
A big shout out to Jake W and Phoebe S for their excellent effort this week. Jake opened the batting and batted well but had to retire at an early stage of the match. With a few wickets dropping quickly Phoebe and Tyler S steadied the ship before Jake came back to the crease. Phoebe and Jake were the last two wickets for the team and stayed at the crease for nearly 2 hours at a very hot Ashgrove field facing all of the oppositions best bowlers. They stayed out the entire innings robbing Valleys of an outright win.
This is true Cyclones spirit - never giving up and seeing the job through to the end. Well done Phoebe and Jake!!
