Match Reports

U13 - Gower

U13 Gower kicked off the season with a home game at Langdon. Newly appointed captain Isaac won the toss and decided to send the Lakes into bat on blustery morning.

Issac and Luke opened the bowling and bowled some nice tight lines. Luke claimed two early wickets in addition to a great runout by Callum, The Lakes were 3/20 early. Returning to the side, Hayden bowled at first change with immediate success. Wickets then slowed and The Lakes started to put on a few handy partnerships. To their credit, the Cyclones boys stuck to it and kept chipping away to eventually bowl The Lakes out for 155 on day 1. Wickets were shared, Luke 2/15, Blake 1/5, Hayden 1/11, Zac C 1/12, Jayden 1/14, Travis 1/16 and Brax 1/17.

That left new Cyclones openers Travis and Isaac 8 overs to face on day 1. Unfortunately, Travis chipped one to mid-off to be dismissed for 10 leaving the boys at 1/29 at the end of day 1.

We returned for day 2 full of optimism, however wickets fell at regular intervals and we couldn’t build many meaningful partnerships. Braxton played a gutsy innings holding The Lakes bowlers at bay, while Blake also dug in and remined unbeaten on 23. Issac also with 23 and Travis 10 were the top scorers. Cyclones were all out for 91, trailing by 64.

The Lakes having won on the first innings went back in to bat, however the day was not lost. Cyclones took wickets at regular intervals. Hayden with 3/18 (and on a hattrick at one stage) was the pick of the bowlers. Zac S 2/2, (and some real turners) Luke 1/3, Blake 1/6 and Callum 1/12 were the other wicket takers. At the end of play, The Lakes finished on 8/83.

Some lessons learnt today. We’ll regroup and go again next week.

Final scores:

The Lakes 1stInnings all-out 155 def

Redcliffe Cyclones 1st Innings all-out 91

The Lakes 2nd Innings 8/83 at close of play

U13 - Stimpson

Stimpson U13 MVPs for the last 2 weeks. Jamey retired, not out and a great catch. Gautam got a cracking bowl and catch combo. The team all pulled together this week and fielded really well!

U15 - Divine

To start our day we had the privilege of being joined by Life Members Greg Divine and Barry Stevenson who along with Neal presented new Cyclone Lewis with his Baggy Blue. Charlie who was our fill in captain today, with regular captain Luca away injured, presented Greg and Barry with their Life Member shirts. Greg who is our namesake stayed on an watched our match giving the boys a pre-match pep talk.

The boys were fielding on Filmer Park which is a batters wicket. Valley quickly made the 9 runs required to pass our total and played strongly to knock up a very respectable 220. Wickets fell throughout the day with Cooper on a hat trick at one point. The Cyclones had them on 8 out and could not get the last wicket before they made it to the end of their overs.

We had just over an hour to bat. Jake and Riley topped the batting for the day while Braedon was looking very settled before we ran out of time. Valley Maroon came away with the win and we learnt some great lessons to build on for the season.

U15 - McDonald

After Jake and Cooper saw off the new ball last week, we started the day 0-44 chasing 174. Good contributions with the bat from Noah, Matthys and Harry got us the 1st innings win and we continued to build a lead finishing 7-256 off our 55 overs, with Arya posting some fast runs at the backend. Putting Albany Creek into bat for a short period, we bowled well and caught well, taking 4/10 off 9 overs. A great win to start the season and a great team effort. Well done to Bodhi on captaining the side for the first time and bringing home the chocolates.

Bowling

Bodhi 4/14 off 5 & 1/0 off 2

Tyson 2/19 off 6 & 1/1 off 2

Batting
