This week all Cyclones teams wore black armbands out of respect to Dimmick family following the loss of our much-loved life member Len Dimmick.
Across all age groups as you can see in the photos, I think a fitting tribute to a much-loved member of our club. We hoped Len was watching over all of us and we were making him proud.
At Scarborough state school, we were privileged and honoured to have Len’s sons Mark and Alan along with granddaughter Danielle join us to cheer on our u11 team named in honour of Len and the Dimmick family.
Both Alan and Mark are former Redcliffe junior cricketers and I am sure today had many mixed emotions and memories for them.
It was a privilege to introduce the Dimmick family to the team. Coach Steve Jones is doing a fantastic job with the team, and we all agreed how proud Len would be of them.
As fate would have it, Len’s great mate of over 50 years, fellow life member Murray Ryan also has a team named after him and thanks to a last-minute field change due to a family of plovers taking up residence on another field our u10 Ryan team was playing on the same field in the following game.
All this made for a great morning of watching cricket, sharing memories, and paying our respects to Len and Murray in the best way we know how, upholding Cyclones values.
