December was an awesome month at the Gabba for the Cyclones. We represented three times across two matches with some very special events happening. With the significant number of clubs in South-East Queensland we are very fortunate that we get to have our volunteers and Blasters front-and-centre at these matches.
A very big Thank You goes to our friends at Queensland Cricket who make these opportunities happen for our club.
Flag Bearers at the Test Match
The Cyclones were again chosen to hold the flags on the opening morning of Day 1 at the Brisbane Test match. Our club president Neal and club registrar Stephen were selected from a pool of volunteers from clubs across Brisbane to hold the national flags behind the teams at the Australia-India test. Neal and Stephen were both allocated to the left-hand corners of the Australia flag with Neal at the front at the foot of the flag and Stephen at the union jack corner.
Blasters on-field at Lunch - Day 2 of the Test Match
Seven of our Blasters got to go out onto the field at the lunch break of Day 2 and play some Blasters activities in front of the largest single day crowd of the entire test match... 34,227 people. It is an amazing experience to be able to go and play cricket on the same field as two awesome cricket teams - the Australian and Indian cricket teams.
Blasters on-field at the first Brisbane Heat match
A special surprise for the Cyclones Blasters at the first home match of the season for the Brisbane heat. Not only did they get to wave flags as the Heat openers went into bat and got given a hat that one of the players signed for them before fielding against the Adelaide Strikers. Some of our lucky Blasters were tasked with presenting the returning Heat players who won the BBL-13 competition with their championship rings. This is an unbelievable experience for our Blasters which is the only time in the Heats history where the players were presented with rings.
