Match Reports
U13 - Stimpson
Rain may have interrupted play midway through day 2 of the match today, but it couldn’t dampen the spirit or the brilliance of Stimpson U13’s bowlers and fielders, who delivered a performance that was nothing short of exceptional!
From the very first ball, our opening bowlers set the tone. A masterclass in accuracy and control, conceding just 9 runs in 8 overs between them. Incredibly, that included a maiden over and not a single extra. The pressure was on from the start! In the 9th over, a fresh bowler came in and immediately made an impact, claiming the first wicket of the day with a teammate making a brilliant catch. Just a few balls later, another sensational catch sent a second Hawks batter back to the sidelines, leaving the scoreboard reading 2-25 at the drinks break. It was a tight performance from the entire team, and despite the ominous clouds overhead, the players kept their focus firmly on the game.
By the 15th over, our bowlers had given away only 5 extras, maintaining relentless pressure. The Hawks were struggling to get the ball away, with our bowlers finding a good rhythm, hitting their lengths and lines. At the 20-over mark, the Hawks had managed to push their score to 2-64, but it wasn’t long before they lost another wicket — this time to LBW. Despite the pressure of the growing rainclouds, the team remained upbeat, shouting words of encouragement to each other and giving everything on the field. With the weather closing in, our bowlers and fielders battled on valiantly, trying to keep the ball dry and accurate as the rain started to fall. Then, suddenly, the heavens opened, and the call for cover came. The players sprinted off the field just as the downpour arrived.
Taking refuge, the team enjoyed a well-deserved snack while we waited to see if the weather would relent. Sadly, the rain showed no sign of easing, and the match was eventually called off. While the premature end to the game was disappointing, there was so much to be proud of. With only 21 extras given away across the 27 completed overs, our bowlers had restricted the opposition to a modest 3-87. It was a truly remarkable performance from the team — tight, disciplined, and full of heart. Well done, Stimpson U13!
