Match Reports

U12 - Ryan-Dimmick

Winning the toss we elected to bat and with a wet pitch we lost some strong batters early. Our middle order and tail batters put on some good shots and we ended the innings leaving them chasing 112 runs.

Our turn on the field saw some very tight bowling, great wickets and even a couple of classic catches, including a caught and bowled!

With very few sundries given away, our team showed integrity and sportsmanship working together to bring us close. Unfortunately today we had our first loss but we will recoup and be ready next week!

8/112 vs 6/116

U13 - Stimpson

In an exciting match this morning, Stimpson U13 Mixed faced off against the Toombul Bulls after losing the toss and being put in to bowl. As the sun climbed higher, so did the energy on the field, with the Cyclones players rising to the challenge!

The Bulls started strong, racking up 7 runs in the first over. However, the tide quickly turned as Stimpson tightened their grip on the game. With only 2 runs in the second over and a mere 1 run in the third, the team’s spirit soared when they snagged their first wicket—a stunning bowl and catch combo that set the tone for the innings!

As the Bulls struggled to find their rhythm, Stimpson's bowlers unleashed a flurry of tight overs, conceding just 6 runs across the next three. The pivotal moment came in the tenth over when another wicket fell, thanks to a brilliant runout amidst chaotic communication from the batters.

The heat was on, but so was the intensity of Stimpson's bowling attack. With the captain leading by example, they delivered a maiden over in the 14th, sparking a chain reaction of accurate bowling. The team showcased their training with another maiden in the 17th and a fantastic catch in the 18th, followed by yet another wicket just four balls later!

The players kept their momentum alive under the heat of the sun, cheering each other on with enthusiasm. Their hard work paid off with two catches in two balls during the 28th over, followed by two more in consecutive overs. As the Bulls found themselves at 8-105 heading into the 31st over, Stimpson was hungry for more and another catch came swiftly.

With only one wicket remaining, Stimpson doubled down on their efforts, limiting extras and delivering another maiden in the 34th over. The excitement peaked in the 35th over when, with a resounding crack, the bails flew off, courtesy of the captain’s bowling. The Bulls were all out for 122.

After a well-deserved drink break to cool down, it was time for Stimpson to bat. With just 45 minutes remaining, the strategy was clear: protect their wickets while planning for next week's showdown. The first two batters performed well with smart and patient cricket, each reaching 30 balls before retiring to fight another day. Batters three and four held their ground until stumps, ready to lead the charge next week.

As the morning session wrapped up, Stimpson stood at 0-22, trailing by 100 runs. We are looking forward to Day 2, watch this space!
